What I hear, I forget.
What I see, I remember.

What I do, I understand.

Oh, is that the original quote? My friend has a bastardized version of this as a tagline in her emails, and I didn't realize that it wasn't the original. Hers is, "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I write and I understand."

It's very nice to see the actual quote. :) Thanks for sharing.

Profound. Lovely picture too, it's nice to see children so focussed in a classroom setting.

I wish I would have read of the weekly quote thing earlier, becuase it's such an inspiring thing to do. Your quote is so great, especially under the photo of the working children.

Wonderful quote! So much truth in so few words.

Books Fall Open, I've seen numerous versions of this quote, but this is my favorite in terms of teaching and learning.

Thanks, Sandra. It doesn't show up very well in the photo, but the kids each have a magnifying glass, and are doing close observations for a science project.

Thanks, Bellezza. At the beginning of every school year I write it in my planbook because I think it's a very important thing for me to keep in mind, day by day.

Thanks, ChicGeek!

Sunnymama, I agree--simple and elegant.
